This is a recap about Lakota Tomahawks Team 18 football game against Mason Comets team 5. This was a division game for each team and a really big game for the Tomahawks because if they win this game, they are guaranteed a playoff spot.
The Tomahawks started out on defense. They forced the Mason Comets to a 3 and out. The first offensive play for the Tomahawks resulted in a touchdown run by #17 Sean Mahone which put them up 6-0. They went for the 2 point conversion and were successful when Matt Maudlin’s field goal kick was good.
The Comets could not convert on third and long so they were forced to punt again. The Tomahawks took advantage of field position and scored another touchdown increasing the lead 14-0. They went for the 2 point conversion again but weren’t successful.
The Comets still could not convert on third down so they punted yet again. Only this punt was different. The Comets punted the ball to the Tomahawks and #55 Chad Staunton, the punt returner for the Tomahawks caught the ball, received a couple of good blocks and had a wide open lane and to scored a touchdown. The Tomahawks went for a 2 point conversion yet again, and were successful. The score was now 22-0.
On the Comets next possession, their first play was a pass play that turned into disaster quickly. On that play the safety, #17 Tyler Vincent, got an interception and ran for 70 yards to the 30 yard line.
There wasn’t any more scoring in the game. The final score was 22-0 Tomahawks. Now the Tomahawks have a clinched a playoff spot.
